“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Dr. Seuss
Truer words were never spoken, particularly about my topic today. I love a good book series, but sometimes find that things get watered down as time goes on (I made a time joke!!!). Not so with this amazing author, Jodi Taylor, and her series, the Chronicles of St. Mary’s. I’ll give you a brief rundown, but no spoilers here. The series is about a group of historians who have mastered the technical issues of time travel (they don’t call it that!), and go up and down the timeline to “observe and report” events that are historically significant. This hysterical group of folks rarely have a “normal” mission, where observing and reporting are the only things that happen. Other things happen, and I can’t stop laughing. One thing I also love about this series is that it’s available on Audible, and is narrated by the incomparable Zara Ramm. Honestly, I could listen to Zara read the phone book. She brings an added dimension to these already larger-than-life characters.
If you are a Kindle user, and you are an Audible member, you know that you can “toggle” between your book on Kindle and your book on Audible. They sync up, and your reading experience is seamless. I love this aspect of being a Kindle user. I can be reading my book indoors, get in the car, listen where I left off while driving, go back inside, and when I next pick up my kindle, it will ask me if I want to continue where I last left off (on Audible). I don’t miss a thing!
But, back to the Chronicles of St. Mary’s book series. You should definitely read these in some semblance of order, particularly in the beginning. Jodi writes full novels and short stories based on these characters (her short stories are often free or very inexpensive and sometimes make their debut on Christmas Day – thanks, Jodi!)

Follow the amazing Madeline Maxwell and her cronies at St. Mary’s on adventures to amazing times and places. I have been immensely entertained while reading this series, and simultaneously amazed at the amount of history I’m learning. (Another way to sneak up on something!!!) Where were these books when I was in school?!
If you decide to check out this series, let me know what you think. And, then, maybe we can invite Jodi for a glass of wine and some chocolate, and find out where the St. Mary’s crew is going on their next mission. Until then, an honor and a privilege to share space with you guys!
Next time on the blog, Honey, Let’s plan a party!!!
Love it. I will have to check these out
